Covid-19 Policies and Important Information

Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone everywhere who has been impacted by Covid-19. This tragedy was
unforeseen, and at times like these, we are all reminded that we are in this together.

Here in the Finger Lakes region, while we have been severely affected (just like all others in the world), we
have been spared the horrendous toll that Covid-19 has imposed on more populated areas of the state.
Nonetheless, we are aware of the health risks of this pandemic, and are taking all necessary precautions to stem
its spread. While this pandemic has had a profound effect on our business, with many cancellations for the
spring travel season, reservations are slowly coming in. All are being cautious, which is understandable.

While we have been dealing with “the pause”, we’ve been busy at the inn preparing for guests with new
protocols and ways to transform what was previously a very social activity to one of a more independent
endeavor. It has been a challenge. When you are ready to travel again (hopefully soon), Sutherland House is
ready to greet and serve our guests with the hospitality which we have been known for. During these times of
concern regarding travel and public places, staying at a small bed and breakfast, such as ours, is perfect to avoid
crowds. We offer our beautiful inn for those who need to travel, or for those who simply need a get-away for
rest and relaxation. The inn is spacious enough to keep the “safe distance” of 6 feet from others at all times.

The safety and well-being of our guests and staff are the highest priority at Sutherland House. While we have
always maintained the highest standards of cleanliness, we are taking additional precautions to reduce the risk
of exposure to Covid-19 pathogens. We have put into place essential preparatory and prevention measures,
ranging from increased cleaning and sanitizing frequency, adjustments as to how we serve breakfast, and
monitoring our very small staff. We will do everything we can to ensure our guests have a safe and pleasant
stay.

Consistent with the CDC and WHO guidelines, we have instituted the following measures. Please note that
these guidelines may change over time as circumstances require:

-All guest rooms are sanitized from top to bottom after each stay
-More frequent disinfecting of high touch areas in the common/public areas
-Hand sanitizer stations have been placed in several public areas of the inn. Please make use of these
upon each entry into Sutherland House.
-Suspending and limited housekeeping services, so that no one will be entering your room during your
stay. Fresh towels and amenities will be replaced upon request, as well as trash removal.
-All staff will wear a mask when dealing with guests, and while serving breakfast.
-Any guest who is feeling ill or has a fever will be asked to cancel their trip and rebook when they are
feeling better.

Breakfast

Breakfast is part of the overall experience of staying at a bed and breakfast, and at Sutherland House, breakfast
is always a special event. However, at this time, it has been necessary to alter our formal breakfast protocol.

In order to comply with social distancing guidelines and requirements, while we will continue to serve a full
breakfast at 9:00 a.m., we will not be able to seat all guests together in the main dining room. We will be utilizing alternate locations so that everyone has sufficient space. The innkeepers will determine the number of
guests at each breakfast location based upon the reservations and breakfast requests.

Alternatively, you may choose to have a simple breakfast tray, consisting of fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, hard
boiled eggs, a baked good of the day, and juice, delivered to your room at 9:45 am.

If any guest feels they would not be comfortable having breakfast in accordance with those arrangements, or if
you would simply like to sleep in, you may opt out of breakfast with advance notice. We will deduct the
amount of $10 per person for the “no breakfast” rate. Please contact us prior to making your reservation so
that we may adjust your room rate.

Other Meals

Currently, area restaurants serving meals are doing so on a take-out basis only. We would be happy to provide
a list of available take-out restaurants or those providing delivery. You are welcome to enjoy your meal in one
of our dining rooms, or on the patio or gazebo. Just let us know of your plans so that we may make sure that
you have all that you need and so that we may ensure that all trash and other items have been disposed of.

Cancellations

For the time being, we have relaxed our cancelation policy. If a reservation is cancelled at least 48 hours
prior to your stay, you have two options: 1) We will charge a $25.00 cancellation fee per room and refund
the balance of your deposit, or 2) If you prefer, your full deposit will be converted to a cancellation
certificate which you can apply toward a future stay during the next 12 months. Please let us know
which option you prefer when you cancel. This will give you the flexibility to make decisions as more
information is released regarding the pandemic and any travel restrictions. However, if the
cancellation is made less than 48 hours prior to your stay, you will be responsible for the entire cost
of your cancelled reservation unless your room(s) rebook for your cancelled dates. This updated
policy is only for the 2020 season, until further notice, and is only for reservations where the arrival
date is in 2020. This policy will continue to be reviewed and updated as new details emerge.

Bookings through Online Travel Agencies such as Expedia, Booking.com, Hotels.com, and their many partners
will be handled through their cancellation policies regarding Covid-19.
